NDIS fees explained

When Providing a service to participants, there are a number of different fees that can be charged by the provider. These fees are designed to cover various costs involved in providing services to participants. The NDIS has strict guidelines for the fees including price caps. These can be found in the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. The latest version can be found here.

What are the types of fees that My Home Physio currently charge?

  • Consultation fee

  • Travel fee (only applied to clients who live outside our 'free travel' zone - see map here)

What’s changing?

My Home Physio is introducing a Provider Travel - Non-Labour Cost fee. This is a fee of $0.96 per km travelled by the physiotherapist to provide treatment in your home. Where more than one client is seen in the same region, this fee will be divided amongst all clients to reduce the individual cost.

Why is it changing?

At My Home Physio, we endeavour to provide you with the best value we can because we would rather most of your funding go towards the actual treatment/therapy you receive. We currently do this in a number of ways including:

  • A large ‘free travel’ zone, where you are not billed for the Physio’s driving time in that area

  • No additional charges for consumables (theraband, electrodes, dry needles etc.)

  • A lower consultation fee than the NDIS price cap of $224.62 per hour

As part of the Physiotherapy award we are required to pay our therapists a vehicle allowance of $0.96 per km travelled in their private vehicles. My Home Physio has been covering this cost, but it is no longer feasible for us to continue this practice.

When will the change be implemented?

We will continue to cover this cost until the end of March 2024. You will start to notice this fee on your invoices from April 2024.

Is My Home Physio still good value?

When deciding if a home visit appointment is right for you, you should consider:

  • Cost of support worker if needed to assist with appointments out of the home

  • Travel fees associated with the support worker assisting with transport

  • Ease/difficulty of attending a clinic

  • Waiting room experience

  • Appointment duration

  • Clinic hygiene/risks of becoming ill

  • Comfort and convenience of having treatment in your own home

What about financial value?

In regard to cost, below is an example for a client who lives 15 minutes outside of our free travel zone having an appointment on a week day:

NDIS Price Guide

Consultation $224.62

Travel to client  (30min) $112.31

Travel back to clinic (30min) $112.31

Non-Labor travel fee (66km) $64.02

Total cost $468.64

My Home Physio

Consultation $195

Travel to client  (15min) $48.75

Travel back to clinic - No fee

Non-Labor travel fee (66km) $63.36

Total cost $307.11

This would be the MAXIMUM cost for the participant in this example. If there are other clients seen on the same day in the same region, the non-labour travel fee will be divided amongst the participants to reduce the individual cost.
